Accessibility Statement

Yatton and Congresbury Wildlife Action Group (YACWAG) is committed to ensuring that our website at https://yacwag.org.uk is accessible to as many people as possible. We want everyone who visits our website to be able to find, read and understand our content with ease.

Our commitment

We aim to follow recognised good practice for web accessibility, including guidance set out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. We are continually reviewing our website and content to improve accessibility for all users.

Measures we have taken

To support accessibility we:

  • use clear and simple language where possible
  • provide text alternatives for images
  • ensure good colour contrast between text and backgrounds
  • support keyboard navigation
  • structure content using appropriate headings
  • allow zoom and text scaling features

We also use an accessibility plugin to assist with identifying, fixing and preventing accessibility issues as we develop and update the site.

Compatibility

Our website should be compatible with:

  • modern versions of major browsers including Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox
  • the current and previous major release of these browsers
  • devices with software zoom and screen reader capabilities

Although we test the site across a range of devices, some older browsers and operating systems may not function fully.

Areas for improvement

While we strive to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, we are aware that:

  • some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible
  • some third party content (such as embedded maps and media) may not fully meet accessibility standards
  • occasional legacy images may be missing alt text

We are continually working to address these issues as part of our ongoing content improvements.
