Thank you for being interested in helping YACWAG for your DofE project.
YACWAG is an entirely volunteer run organisation and needs to follow YACWAG’s Safeguarding best practice.
If under 18 we can only provide opportunities where the young person is supervised by a parent/guardian and we will require your parent/guardian to sign a form to confirm that you have carried out tasks as stated. We will also need to know the contact details of your centre.
If over 18 YACWAG can only provide supervised opportunities like work parties alongside other volunteers.
Think about what type of volunteering you would like to undertake – indoor or outdoor? carrying out wildlife surveys, doing some practical conservation work, photography, helping at events etc. We are open to any ideas you have. Take a look at our website and it might give you some ideas of the extent of our work.
How much time does the Award require and over what time period? Is it 1-2 hours a week over six months or a year …? Or would it be more sporadic involvement for example helping at our evening talks in the winter or helping at irregular work parties? Also, when would you like to start?
