A packed room greeted YACWAG’s speaker in the Chapter House, Yatton, in early November 2023. It was the first talk YACWAG had held in person for three years and members showed their support by coming along to learn about a fascinating subject.
Fred Giles presented a very interesting talk on Grasshoppers and Crickets. Fred and his colleague, Jon van Gowler, from Recorders of Avalon Marshes (ROAM) expressed their enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge with YACWAG and will be leading walks for us next summer. Fred’s presentation led to probably the most extensive questions ever asked at a YACWAG talk and the audience certainly learnt a lot.
Thanks to all who came along on such a November-ish night. Our next talk will be in January when Gil Martin will tell us about the local Belmont Project.
YACWAG’s fundraising quiz at the Plough Inn in Congresbury also made a come-back, raising over £150 and getting members together for some fun. If you would like to run a quiz for us, or any other fundraising event, please get in touch.
