YACWAG is under a five-year Higher Tier Countryside Management Agreement which provides a grant to help us manage our fields for wildlife – for example, to provide habitat for overwintering snipe. This regular annual funding enables us to engage contractors to help manage the Strawberry Line ditches and margins as well as our own land.

YACWAG is halfway through a Higher Level Stewardship Agreement with DEFRA / Natural England under which an income in excess of £6,000 per year helps us to manage our nature reserves to meet certain agreed objectives for wildlife - for example, to provide habitat for overwintering snipe. This regular income enables us to engage contractors to help manage the Strawberry Line ditches and margins, as well as our own land.
